Rear sprockets are obtained from certified sheets, 4mm thick and finished in the marginal area to have a tooth thickness of 3,2mm
The main purpose of Hard Anodic Oxidation Coating is to improve the properties of aluminum and aluminum alloys like corrosion resistance, wear resistance. The surface hardness after hard anodic oxidation can reach up to 600 Vickers.
Hard oxidation is completed with a PTFE (Teflon®) impregnation treatment to considerably improve the hard oxide friction coefficient.
The thickness of the body of 4mm, allows a greater resistance in case of contact with the curbs.
Not all rear sprockets on the market have a thickness of 4mm, the cheaper ones directly use 3mm sheet and decorative anodic (usually gold) with no abrasion resistance.
